Tagging Guide

*If you are too busy to enter and tag your items, see our Tagging Service for details!!

You must be registered for the current sale. If you have not registered for the current sale click here to login  with your previous consignor number or to get a number. To begin tagging see the Consignor Checklist to be sure you are ready.

**Placing tags properly and securely is very important! We can not sell an item without its tag.  Good descriptions, correct categories & sizes on the tag are also extremely important!

Check out our new helpful how to enter items video:

1.  Entering: Info you will need to enter for your tags:

  • Category: There will be a drop down menu for you to categorize your item.  Eg: Girl's dress in sizes baby through girl's 18 will be the category "Girls' Clothing", but junior girls' clothing would be "Juniors" or a diaper wipe warmer would be categorized as "baby equipment" .  If your item doesn't seem to fit any category, leave it empty.
  • Item Description: This is where you enter a brief description.  You have two lines, but limited space.   Use the brand name, prominent color of the item, and what it is: shirt, jeans, dress, etc.  Eg: "Gymboree sundress" on first line and "Yellow w/ flowers" on second line.  Giving a good description will help if the tag is separated from the item.  We can usually find the item if the tag has a good description and reattach it so your item can sell!
  • Size: It is very important to select the correct size!  Please do not just select small, medium, large for children's clothing.  Assign clothing a number size.  This is for clothing or shoes.  See the drop down menu for sizing and select the correct size. Some brands like Old Navy have odd sizing. For example 6-12 mos. size.  In this case, the item is considered a 6mos. sized item because that is when the child could begin wearing it.
  • Price: You set your own price with items priced at least $3. Pricing should be at 25-50% of the original price. For some, this is tricky.  You can see our suggested pricing under Pricing Tips.
    • When pricing keep in mind what you would pay for that item.
    • Good pricing will help your items sell!
  • Quantity: You can choose 2 or more here if you have more than one of a type of item in the same size.  The same info will print on second tag for the second item.
  • Discount: Check this box if you want your item to sell at 50% off on the Half Price Sale day. You should select Discount if you are planning to Donate the item if it does not sell.
  • Donate: Check this box if you would like to donate your item if it does NOT sell.  All items will be donated to local charitable partners.
  • Submit: After you have entered and selected all of the information about your item, click submit. You have added your item to your Inventory!
  • Next Tag! You are ready to enter the info for your next item! This process goes quickly and efficiently when your items are in order!
  • SAVE!! Save your entries as you go. The system will time out after a few minutes of inactivity, so click save periodically as you go.
  • ALL ITEMS MUST HAVE A TAG TO BE SOLD.  Thank you!
  • If you do not see the entire list of your items entered, you will need to check the box "By Default" to see the entire list.  It will only show the last 5 items otherwise.
  • Click "I'm Finished For Now" if you are done entering for now.

2.   Preview & Print Tags (Do not use tags with blurred or smudged or faded bar codes-they do not scan)

  • Print Preview: When you are done entering items, its time to Preview your tags. Go to Print Preview. Check that they have the needed info and are clear. Make sure barcodes are not cut off, etc.
  • TROUBLE VIEWING TAGS?
    • Try using Internet Explorer instead of Firefox.
    • Disable your pop-up blocker
    • Mac users, you will need to choose to print as PDF or scale your tags to make them larger because Apple/Mac computers tend to print tags so small the barcodes won't scan.
  • Print Tags:
    • Use Card stock or very sturdy white paper. White card stock is best. Tags are easily pulled off when printed on regular copy/printer paper. This may result in your item not being able to be sold and ending up in lost and found!
    • Go to "Work With Consigned Inventory" then "Print All Tags" or "Print Selected Tags"
    • We reccommend printing one sheet as a test.  Sometimes the margins cut off the barcodes on the tags at the bottom of the page.
    • Print as a PDF if you have this problem.

3.  Tagging items/ Hanging clothing redwhitestripedshirt

  • Cut tags apart.  Be sure you do not cut the barcode.
  • Use safety pins to attach tags to the top right of the garment.  See photo example. (you will hang your clothing before this)  Attach tags with tape to bottom of each shoe in a pair. Tape tags securely to toys or equipment, but not so that barcode will be torn when removed.
  • Do not put tape directly on the barcode. Tape can prevent the barcode from scanning at checkout.
  • You may also use a tagging gun to attach tags.  However, for safety reasons, please do not use straight pins. We will ask that you remove those and retag with safety pins.  We always have a few extra safety pins for you to use if needed.
  • Be careful to avoid damaging shirts, dresses, etc. with too large of safety pins. Medium to small (not too large or too tiny) are good to use on tops and dresses.
  • As you tag your items, make sure to give them another close check to make sure there are no stains, tears, holes, missing buttons, broken zippers, fuzz or pilling of fabric, excessive fading, dirt, or unpleasant odors. They should be clean and in great condition with no missing parts.
  • Make sure to attach all pieces of an item together securely.
    • Shoes-attach shoes together with zip ties or in a zip loc bag. Tag the bottom of each shoe incase they become separated. On very small baby shoes, attach the tag to the zip loc back with tape and tape bag shut.
    • Toys- Toys with several small pieces should go into a zip loc bag. Tape the top shut so that little hands can not open them during the sale. Attach the bag to the main toy if there is a larger main piece. Eg: doll house with small furniture or Lego sets with mutliple pieces.
    • Baby Equipment-
      • If it has more than one piece, place small pieces or all into a zip loc bag and tape the top shut. Secure tag with tape to the outside of bag.
      • Hang slings and fabric carriers to a hanger and safety pin tag to item.
    • Clothing-
      • Hang on the hanger with the hook of the hanger the direction of a question mark.
      • Safety pin pieces of a set together and to the hanger.
      • Pants & Wire Hangers- Please do not use wire hangers for pants and jeans. Wire hangers do not do well and the saftey pins usually slide down, leaving pants hanging lopsided. Sturdy plastic hangers can be found for a good price at Walmart or Dollar Tree.  Use large safety pins to attach pants to the plastic hangers.
      • Wrinkle free and clean! You can spin out wrinkles in the dryer and hang or iron.
    • Bedding- Place in a large clear bag or bundle neatly and securely together and place tag in a prominent spot with safety pin.
    • Furniture & Equipment- Tape tags securely to front of furniture. Tape or safety pin tags to swings, bouncy seats, etc.
    • Small Items- socks, small accessories, etc. should be placed in ziploc bags and tags taped to outside of bag. Tape bags closed at top.

In order to maintain quality during the sale, Twice As Nice reserves the right to remove items that may have been overlooked at Drop Off/Check in and that do not fit guidelines.  Also, please note the Consignor agreement regarding lost or stolen items. We do our very best to prevent theft by making use of several volunteers throughout the sale, but as a consignor, you must agree that you will not hold Twice As Nice responsible to lost or stolen items.
